After what has been a rather indulgent festive period, some of us are pondering the New Year – perhaps a focus on Mind, Body & Soul New Year's resolutions! If you’re not planning a complete overhaul for 2016 maybe a small detox or healthier eating for January will help relieve the slight Christmas bloating and guilt from those generous helpings of food and drink.
How can we improve our mind body and soul? Let's consider how we can re-style our food, drink and exercise routines and how we can find time each day for some ‘me ‘time.
If you don’t have the time to cook yourself, then consider our lovely neighbours in Lewes: Cook. All their food is prepared by hand and they have a 3 for £10 offer on their delicious healthy meals – all under 400 calories. Try their Kale pesto pasta, Sweet chilli chicken or dairy free Lamb koftas plus many more tempting main meals. Our closest shops are Lewes, Haywards Heath, Brighton, Eastbourne & Battle – so consider click & collect, and home delivery is also available.
Wheat grass drinks are very popular at the moment. Full of vitamins and minerals, they are a fashionable ‘superfood’ drink and a real boost to your system. Surprisingly, Total Organics have been promoting their benefits and selling wheat grass drinks for fourteen years, but they have seen a surge in popularity as people begin to understand the benefits of drinks and smoothies made from this fresh intense produce. Total Organics are based in the wonderful Borough Market in London and offer wheat grass shots or longer drinks such as a mix with apple juice and ginger.
Exercise (Body & Soul)
It’s a bit of a New Year cliché but I am sure a few of you will have thought about joining a gym this month. If you can get into the routine of attending a gym a couple of times a week it is an excellent way to keep body and soul together. It's a question of putting exercise as a priority in your day and not an added extra if you have time.
The Isenhurst Health club in Cross in Hand offers a wide range of opportunities to keep fit. Try the lovely warm pool or a fitness or yoga class. The gym has all the usual cardio and weight machines, as well as a new strength and conditioning suite that is currently being built. The staff are always helpful and friendly and make a great coffee after a workout session.
Me time (Mind):
Reading is a great way to escape the stress of everyday life. Whether it's fiction or non fiction or a favourite magazine, find time to sit down and read a little each day. Why not read the long awaited new book from Amelia Freer: Cook Nourish Glow. The much acclaimed nutritionist will guide you through her new recipes and help give you a healthy eating plan for life.
A New Year, a new start, a new you, us Darcey ladies wish you good luck with all your resolutions - If a wardrobe overhaul is on your list for 2016 our ladies in our Lewes or Heathfield boutiques will be on hand to assist!
