Who doesn't love May with summer on its way and 2 bank holiday weekends to spoil us!

Traditionally, as we know, the 1st bank holiday Monday in May is known as “May Day” with many of our picturesque towns and villages across the Country, and indeed in Sussex holding celebrations traditionally rejoicing in spring fertility, to include Morris dancing, dancing around the maypole and crowning a May Queen.  What to do May bank holiday in Sussex, we hope you enjoy your local festivities and can take further inspiration from some events we have in mind for the first long weekend in May…

Sat 30th April - Sun 1st May, Eastbourne

2.motor show Magnificent Motors, Eastbourne

For the car admirers an event not to be missed is Magnificent Motors with motors spanning across a century. This motoring extravaganza shows over 500 vintage cars, buses, steam engines, military vehicles, motorbikes and more. Those not so enthused by the lovely cars on display can enjoy the live music, fun fair and French market.

1 Foodies Festival, Hove Lawns

A festival close to our hearts (you can guess why from the name) is the Foodies Festival, located in beautiful Hove lawns (it is also at different locations throughout the country with the next dates on at Bristol 13th-15th May & London 28th-30th May). Featuring tasty treats from artisan producers, live cooking demonstrations, meet top bakers in the cake & bake theatre, street food from cuisines across the globe, a wine village, tutored tasting sessions, cocktail making and cooking-for-kids masterclasses.

Monday 2nd May, Lewes

1.may day lewes Garland Day, Knots of May Women's Morris Dancers, Lewes

A certainty for our diaries is Lewes Garland Day, always held on the 1st bank holiday Monday of May.  One of the many old Lewes traditions, Garland Day was revived by the Knots of May woman's Morris team. Be at Lewes Castle at 10am for the children's Garland competition, for the children of Lewes & surrounding villages.  The procession begins at 11.00am on the High Street to Cliffe Bridge. A fun day and wonderful atmosphere with Morris Dancing by The Knots of May and Chanctonbury Ring Morris Men.

Noa Noa 2 Noa Noa's Summer Collection now in store at Darcey Lewes & Heathfield

This week we are excited with the arrival in store of summer collections from Noa Noa, N&Willow & Pour Moi.  The Noa Noa collection has true feminine appeal with their slight bohemian styling adding something different yet timeless to your wardrobe.  N&Willow offers colourful, easy to wear fashion this summer (their printed slouchy trousers are a firm favourite every year).  Pour Moi is an Italian brand whose elegant tops are already proving popular in both our Lewes & Heathfield boutiques.

As always we offer a stylish yet casual and diverse collection, and are on hand to help you adapt each season's key looks to your own style.  Many of our customers have commented on the gorgeous colour palette this season, there is a shade to suit each individual.
