Darcey are all prepared for another autumn and winter in Lewes, the cold snap certainly doesn’t drive away visitors, the town looks beautiful at this time of year and the preparations will be well underway for this year’s bonfire night celebrations.
Get prepared for autumnal walks on the downs after Sunday lunches with some beautiful winter woollies in store & online, not to mention a multitude of scarves in colours, patterns and materials sure to entice you - such as our One Hundred Stars Marni Scarf with beautiful green and grey print, made from a viscose and modal blend giving it a silky soft feeling.
Our autumn event is a date for your diary, from Thursday 15th – Saturday 17th September, with 15% off and a glass of fizz, come for a good try on, styling advice or to simply peak at the new seasons styles and colours. We adore the berry and earth colour palette this season, but there is something for everyone from forest greens to brilliant blues.

Another date we look forward to is Wednesday 26th October, the opening of a lovely new Italian restaurant in Lewes. Aqua has delectable food at reasonable prices, sure to become a firm favourite – we can’t wait to sample the Chicken & mushroom bruschetta with a spicy pomodoro sauce…followed by Slow roasted pork belly with kale, cranberries and sauté potatoes and perhaps a cheeky blueberry pannacotta.
Not to mention 2 for 1 cocktails from noon until 7pm every day. Our new neighbours have informed us that on Saturday 22nd they will be doing free pizza giveaway between 12pm and 2pm, and on the opening week they will have 7 days of prizes!
We can’t help but to start thinking of the home comforts of desserts such as apple pies and rhubarb crumbles at this time of year, one on our to do list for a while now is Paul Hollywood’s delicious Pear Pies!

For the rough puff pastry you’ll need: 200g/7oz plain flour (plus extra for rolling); 100g/3½oz butter, in a block, frozen; 100g/3½oz lard, in a block, frozen, 1 free range eff, beaten; 2 tbsp granulated sugar
For the poached pears: 6 large, firm pears (straight & tall); 300g/10½oz caster sugar, 500ml/18fl oz dry white wine ; 2 cinnamon sticks; 1 orange –zest only
