The weather is certainly changing, it has us thinking of autumnal Sussex walks, fashion & dinners.
Autumnal Sussex Walks
We are truly spoilt for choice in Sussex for walks to soothe the soul, were thinking of autumnal leaves beneath our feet, family walks and superb walks to take our dogs on. On our list this autumn is Batemans and Petworth House.
Batemans in Burwash, East Sussex is the Jacobean home of Rudyard Kipling (still the youngest recipient of the Nobel Prize for literature). The garden of this estate is beautiful with a homely feel, and the countryside beyond (all 300 acres) offers a peaceful
Retreat in the countryside of the High Weald, Petworth House is a stately mansion within the South Downs National Park. This stunning property has the finest art collection the National Trust can boast off from all their properties. With a 700 acre deer park landscaped by Capability Brown, we can't imagine a better place to be for an autumnal weekend walk.
With walks in mind, and fashion (as always!) we can envisage a lovely stroll this AW16 in our stylish, warm and practical boiled wool coat by Cut Loose. The Scarf Coat has a casual and boxy styling, perfect with cords and boots (or wellingtons) for many a blustery walk, alternatively style with velvet trousers and ankle boots for a touch of sophistication for a ladies lunch.
Spring Chicken & Citrus Stew, Jamie Oliver
After your bracing walk you may wondering what to have for dinner….are we naughty for thinking of warming roasts, stews and pies already!? We’re thinking stews with a twist:
A compromise may be this delicious recipe by Jamie Oliver, Spring Chicken and Citrus Stew, it seems like a meal suitable for any season.
Spanish meatball and butter bean stew would be a nice hearty Mediterranean meal (not to mention it gives you an impressive 4 of your 5 a day). Thanks to BBCgoodfood for the inspiration.
What could be more enticing after a long walk than an Irish Lamb Stew, Rachael Allen’s recipe is a must for a chilly day.
Finally add a cosy layer to your clothing whether you are indoors or out doors with our soft knitted herringbone tweed cape by In Town. We adore the fringing along the bottom hem. It is a one size garment and will fit anyone from a 10-18, and will just drape casually whatever your size or shape – your go to ultra-versatile cover up this season.
Enjoy your autumnal walks, dinners and fashion!
